Electrochemical measurements in Energy research
Energy research focuses on developing and improving technologies for energy conversion, storage, and harvesting, including batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, and solar cells. Electrochemical techniques are essential for understanding the mechanisms, efficiency, and durability of these energy systems. Techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests provide critical insights into material performance and device behavior.
Resources about electrochemical energy research and testing
Key factors to consider when selecting a potentiostat for energy research and testing:
- Wide current range (nA to A): For measuring from small electrodes to large battery cells
- High voltage compliance: Supports testing of high-voltage batteries and fuel cells
- Multi-channel capability: Enables simultaneous testing of multiple devices
- Advanced EIS over wide frequency range
- High data acquisition speed/ true analog scan: Captures fast transient processes in supercapacitors and solar cells
- Control integration: Allows precise environment simulation during testing
- Computer-free operation: Operate the potentiostat independently without connecting a laptop, freeing your computer for other tasks in the lab/ at home
What are your challenges in Energy research or testing?
VIONIC potentiostat/galvanostat is suitable for high-density testing with a maximum current of 6 A. For higher currents up to ± 10A, the Autolab Multichannel M204 with the Booster10A or the Modular AUT302N with the Booster20A can be used. For higher currents than ± 20A, third part programmable power supplies and electronic loads can be controlled via NOVA software.
